Alberto Meda

Alberto Meda was born in 1945 in Lenno Tremzzina, Italy. He qualified as a mechanical engineer at the Polytechnic in Milan and went on to do a post-graduate course. In 1973 he was appointed Technical Manager of Kartell, responsible for a project involving furniture and plastic laboratory equipment. In 1979 he became a freelance industrial designer.

He has received numerous awards for his professional work.

As a designer, Alberto Meda is an exception in some respects. The result of the first collaboration between Vitra and Alberto Meda is exceptional: a conference and office chair, which tackles the brief to be comfortable, ergonomic, and comply with the relevant norms in a new way, and creates an aesthetic of its own.
