George Nelson

  • Born in 1908 in Hartford, Connecticut , USA
  • 1931: degree in architecture from Yale University
  • 1934: completes studies at the American Academy in Rome and opens an architectural studio in New York with William Hanby
  • 1935-1944: editor-in-chief of the magazine "Architectural Forum"
  • 1496: sets up his own office for architecture and industrial design
  • as of 1957 begins co-operation with Vitra
  • 1968: designs the typewriter "Editor" for Olivetti
  • 1983: creates the exhibition "Design since 1945" at Philadelphia Museum of Art
